'Batman v Superman': Tao Okamoto's Role Confirmed

The Japanese actress is set to play Mercy Graves, Lex Luthor's personal assistant and bodyguard who is depicted as a highly intelligent character.

AceShowbiz - Rumor about Tao Okamoto's role in upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" has been circling for a while, and now it is confirmed. A trailer breakdown from DC All Access reveals that the Japanese actress will be involved in the movie.

Although the previous press release said that the 30-year-old actress would play a character which was newly created for the film, it turns out that she will play Mercy Graves. In the comic books, Graves is traditionally Lex Luthor's personal assistant and bodyguard. She is portrayed as highly intelligent and experienced in hand-to-hand combat. The character made its debut appearance in "Superman: The Animated Series" in 1996.

Okamoto is no stranger to starring in superhero movie. She previously appeared as Mariko Yashida in 2013's "The Wolverine" alongside Hugh Jackman, Brian Tee and Hiroyuki Sanada. She also appears on currently-airing "Hannibal".

"Batman v Superman" centers on the conflict between two titular superheroes, Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill). It will mark the launching of DC Cinematic Universe in which other superheroes such as Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) join the Caped Crusader and the Man of Steel.

Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, Ray Fisher and Laurence Fishburne are attached to play Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, Alfred J. Pennyworth, Cyborg and Perry White respectively. Directed by Zack Snyder, the movie will arrive in U.S. theaters on March 25, 2016.
