President Barack Obama bid goodbye to Jon Stewart before he resigns as "The Daily Show" host. The President made his final appearance on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Tuesday, July 21 as scheduled.

After he greeted the comedian, President Obama said, "I can't believe you're leaving before me." He jokingly added, "I'm going to issue an executive order. Jon Stewart cannot leave the show. It's being challenged in courts." Stewart quipped, "To me, this is a states' rights issue."

During the half-hour interview, they talked about the nuclear deal with Iran. "I do think the work we did early starts bearing fruit later," the President said. "It just so happens that people are seeing the work we did when we first came in - Iran, for example, it took four or five years to get them to to table."

As Stewart pointed out, "We're fighting with Iraqis to defeat ISIS along with Iran. But in Yemen, we're fighting Iran with Iraqis and Saudis." Obama responded, "That's not quite right. But that's OK." When asked by Stewart, "Whose team are we on in the Middle East?" POTUS replied, "We're going after ISIS. We've got a 16 country coalition. That's a top priority."

Before ending the interview, Stewart asked Obama if he had any advice for "future President Trump." The President responded, "I am sure the Republicans are enjoying Trump's current dominance," before Stewart enthused, "Anything that makes them look less crazy."

President Obama also declared that Stewart and "The Daily Show" had been a "great gift to the country."

Jon Stewart is set to leave "The Daily Show", which he has hosted for more than 16 years, August 6. Trevor Noah will take over the seat starting September 28.
