New footage from "The X-Files" revival was released during the airing of "Wayward Pines" on Thursday, July 16. The short teaser gives a chilling look at what could be the start of the mysterious new case that reunites Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson).

It offers a glimpse at what looks like a stranded spaceship and a group of soldiers approaching something unseen, hinting at a possible military conspiracy. There are also dragged bodies and some laboratory experiment, before it shows Mulder and Scully in action.

"The X-Files" six-episode event series will launch with a two-night premiere on Sunday, January 24 and Monday, January 25 on FOX. Set years after events on the original series, it sees Mulder "in a dark, dark place" as Duchovny says, "Mulder's not in a great place. He's wearing bad jeans, so you can just extrapolate from my wardrobe."

Each episode will feature new monster and series creator Chris Carter promised that there wouldn't be the same old monsters "We're not going to reboot any of the old favorites, although it was something we all thought about," he previously told EW. "These are all brand new stories. We hope to scare you in brand new ways."
