Kanye West is officially announced as one of the music acts to perform at the closing ceremony of Pan Am Games this year. The American hip-hop star is set to join Cuban-American rapper Pitbull and Canadian artist Serena Ryder at the televised event.

The announcement was made by TO2015 CEO Saad Rafi at a press conference held daily during the games. Asked why the officials chose American artists as headliners, he argued, "I wouldn't actually call Pitbull and Kanye West American artists. I think they're international artists."

This year's Pan Am Games is hosted by Canada. It was opened on July 10 and will be closed on July 26 at the Rogers Centre. It will pass the baton to Lima, Peru as the next host city for the 2019 games.
