Jennifer Lawrence has signed on to star in romantic dramedy "The Rosie Project". According to The Hollywood Reporter, she will star as the main female character named Rosie in the film which is being developed by Columbia Pictures.

Based on a book by Graeme Simsion, the story follows a socially-inept genetics professor who devises a very detailed survey in order to find the perfect wife. He desires a punctual, non-drinking, non-smoking female to fit in with his regimented lifestyle. His plan turns to different direction when he encounters Rosie, a free-spirited woman who possesses all the opposite qualities he should be looking for.

Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who penned "500 Days of Summer", have revised Simsion's adaptation of the novel. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were intially eyed as directors before they passed on the project for an untitled stand-alone Star Wars film II. As of now, there is no director attached to the project. There is no exact release date just yet, but "The Rosie Project" is expected to arrive in U.S. theaters in 2016.

Lawrence will next appear in the final installment of "The Hunger Games" franchise, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2", which will premiere later this year. This Christmas, she will also appear in "Joy", which reunites her with David O. Russell, who directed her in "Silver Linings Playbook" and "American Hustle". She is now already in pre-production for "Passengers" which also stars Chris Pratt.
