Disney Lands Script for Live-Action 'Prince Charming' Project
Movie

Matt Fogel, who worked with Phil Lord and Christopher Miller in 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs', penned the spec script for the comedy project.

Following the success of "Cinderella" and "Maleficent", Disney is continuing its push into live-action fairytales. The studio has acquired the spec of "Prince Charming", a live-action comedy revolving around the iconic character which appeared in the classics "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves", "Sleeping Beauty" and "Cinderella".

The spec script was penned by Matt Fogel, who worked as an assistant to Phil Lord and Christopher Miller in 2009's animation flick "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs". David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films/TV as well as Tripp Vinson will serve as producers. Mandeville's Alex Young, meanwhile, will executive produce.

While the plot details are scarce, sources tell Variety that the point of view of the story isn't the prince himself but it will be based on his brother who never lived up to the family name. The Hollywood Reporters, meanwhile, says the script is described as "a revisionist take on the fairy tales."

Matt is currently developing "Bob: The Musical" at Disney while Mandeville is producing the studio's upcoming live-action film "Beauty and the Beast (2017)" starring Emma Watson.
