The 'Whiplash' actor reveals that he has signed on for possible 'Terminator Genisys' follow-up movies, saying that if they happen, he 'will by God be there.'

AceShowbiz - While cyborg movie "Terminator Genisys" is in theaters, fans get new good news. J.K. Simmons, who portrays detective O'Brien in the movie, teased in recent interview that he had signed on for the film's possible follow-ups.

While attending the "Genisys" premiere in Berlin on June 21, the "Whiplash" star was asked whether his character survived this film. He answered, "Yes, we are told O'Brien does [survive]... in fact, we went back and did a little added shot on the roof of the whole helicopter sequence to make sure that we see that after Arnold [Schwarzenegger] throws me away so that he can save people."

He added, "I'm one of those that he saves, and I'm still alive and watching what's happening." Simmons also said that people could expect him to return to possible next "Terminator" movies. "I am signed on, so if there are sequels I will by God be there," the 60-year-old actor confirmed.

People are wondering whether, if the sequels happen, Simmons' character will take a bigger part in the next installments of the action movie franchise. "There are a lot of ways we could go with O'Brien and we've actually have had those discussions already, so I do know where it goes - but thats part of the fun of the character, he's the only guy in 2017, in the regular world, that has a clue whats going on," Simmons said.

Although he just had a small role in "Genisys", he admitted that he loved to do it. "I've tried to just do whatever [that] is interesting to me and I've said no to things that I did not find it interesting. It was just a fun part. When I read the scripts I thought it's not only a fun little part, very small part, but a fun part that has a nice impact," the actor explained his role.

He continued the conversation while giving tribute to the team behind the movie. "I thought they did such a brilliant job of taking all the characters that we do know including Arnold's character," he said of the team.
