AceShowbiz - The first poster of "Independence Day 2" has arrived online. Collider shares a snap of the poster captured from the halls of the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas. The poster shows an almost improbably huge alien craft shooting a giant beam of unpleasantness at Earth.

The site also shares the official synopsis for the sequel of 1996's "Independence Day" which gives a hint at what's going on the poster. The synopsis reads, "After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale."
"Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction," it continues.
Starring Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Liam Hemsworth, Maika Monroe, Jessie Usher, Joey King, Sela Ward, Brent Spiner, Vivica A. Fox, William Fichtner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Judd Hirsch, "Independence Day 2" is scheduled to hit theaters in the U.S. on June 24, 2016.
