Katy Perry Denies Recording Alleged Taylor Swift Diss Song '1984'
Music

New report claims that the song was registered by one of the writers just days after news about Perry and Swift's feud broke in September 2014.

Reports suggesting that Katy Perry has recorded a Taylor Swift diss song are not true. A rep for the "Roar" hitmaker has denied she's involved in any way with the track titled "1984" although she's listed as the artist on her music publisher BMI's website.

"Katy Perry's managers at Direct Management Group confirm that this story is completely false," a label rep for Perry told Billboard. "Katy Perry was not involved in writing, singing, recording or registering this song."

According to TMZ, "1984" was actually registered by one of the writers, Andreas Carlsson, who previously worked with Perry on her hit "Waking Up in Vegas". He registered the song without Perry's knowledge just days after news about the 30-year-old singer and Swift's feud broke last September. TMZ said that BMI would pull the song from its registration soon.

"1984", titled after the year Perry was born, was said to be a reference to Swift's latest album "1989". Fans speculated that it would be her response to the 25-year-old superstar's current single "Bad Blood", which everyone knows is about Perry.
