Another TV series from David Fincher is getting a greenlight. "Living on Video", which is based on the "Gone Girl" helmer's own experiences as a music video director, has been picked for a 10-episode first season run.
Set in 1983 Los Angeles, the period drama centers on Bobby, a wide-eyed guy who drops out of college and drives to Hollywood with dreams of directing a sci-fi epic. He lands a job as a PA for a company making music videos.
Said to be in the vein of HBO's "Entourage", the new series revolves around the players of the then-exploding music video industry - directors, record executives and crew members, many of them who dabble in drugs - as told through the eyes of a newcomer named Robby.
It's written by Rich Wilkes ("XXX") and Bob Stevenson based on an idea by Fincher. Two episodes had reportedly been filmed of the project, with Fincher as director. Michael Lehmann and Marcos Siega will serve as co-exec producers.
No other details are available about the upcoming series as HBO has not commented on the report.
Fincher's previous TV project "House of Cards" has become a hit on Netflix.
