TV

Ahsoka, Captain Rex and Hondo Ohnaka join forces with Ezra and Kanan to fight against the returning Darth Vader.

"Star Wars Rebels" just wrapped up its inaugural season last March, but the first trailer for the second season has already landed online. Debuted during the "Star Wars" Celebration at the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday, April 18, the video features some familiar faces from "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" animated series.

Following the return of Darth Vader at the end of season 1, the Rebel Alliance is growing with returning characters like Ahsoka, Captain Rex and Hondo Ohnaka coming to Ezra and his group's aid. There's a glimpse of Darth Vader having a lightsaber fight with Kanan, as well as a duel between the villain and Ezra.

At a press conference at the "Star Wars" Celebration, executive producer Dave Filoni said, "There are things designed to hit you immediately. As you watch a trailer over and over, if they're designed well, the are layers and there are things you see and you get a little more out of it. It keeps you engaged."

As what to expect from the second season, he teased, "We will be addressing Ezra's parents to some degree. Now he has this other family [on the Ghost], what happened to his mom and dad? Nice thing about season two, you get a broader look at all the characters."

Audience at the event got to watch the entire first episode of season 2 titled "The Siege of Lothal". The premiere date for the second season, however, has not been announced yet.
