Mike Posner is finally back with a new song. After spending months without releasing music, the singer returned on Tuesday, April 14 with "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" which was inspired by his own life after the success of his 2010 hit single "Cooler Than Me".

The slow-tempo, acoustic song opens with Posner singing, "I took a pill in Ibiza to show Avicii I was cool/ And when I finally got sober, felt 10 years older, but f**k it, it was something to do." Later, he warns people about the downside of being famous, "But you don't wanna be high like me/ Never really knowing why like me/ You don't ever wanna step off that roller coaster and be all alone."

"It's not the job of the art to accommodate me and make me more money, make me more famous and get me more girls," Posner explained the inspiration behind the song in an interview with The Huffington Post.

"I think I was in that mindset after 'Cooler Than Me' came out. I started getting some of those things, and I thought, 'How about if I get more?' I think for a period of time I did think art was there to serve me, but it took me a minute to reset," he added.

"I Took a Pill in Ibiza" is the first offering from Posner's upcoming album. Still untitled, the project is scheduled to be released later this year via Island Records.
