Brent Spiner and Joey King Added to 'Independence Day 2'

The addition of the Dr. Brackish Okun depicter and the 'Wish I Was Here' actress is announced by director Roland Emmerich himself.

AceShowbiz - Two more actors join the growing cast of the long-delayed sequel to "Independence Day". Brent Spiner who played scientist Dr. Brackish Okun in the original movie is set to return for the "Independence Day 2". Another new addition is "Wish I Was Here" actress Joey King.

"This just in... @JoeyKingActress and @BrentSpiner officially signed for #IndependenceDay - Welcome aboard!" director Roland Emmerich broke the news on Twitter. Spiner replied, "Never release me." When a fan pointed out that his character was dead in the first film, he answered, "Ummmm, is he?"

After the casting was announced, 15-year-old King enthused, "So freaking excited to officially be part of #IndependenceDay2. Cant wait to work with my favorite @rolandemmerich again. Gonna be a blast."

Spiner is not the only original actor who is back for the follow-up movie. Vivica A. Fox who played the love interest to Will Smith's Steven Hiller and Jeff Goldblum who portrayed computer expert David Levinson are expected to reprise their roles as well.

They join Liam Hemsworth who is added as the son-in-law of Bill Pullman's President Thomas J. Whitmore, and Jessie Usher as the son of Smith's Hiller. "Nymphomaniac" actress Charlotte Gainsbourg is also in talks to star for the sequel which is plotted for June 24, 2016.
