Steve McQueen's TV project has got a limited series order from HBO, Deadline learns. The "12 Years a Slave" helmer is set to direct the all six episodes. Titled "Codes of Conduct", it was written by the director and Matthew Michael Carnahan ("World War Z").

The series is about "an exploration of a young African-American man's experience entering New York high society, with a past that may not be what it seems." It follows a young man from Queens as talented as he is ambiguous. His self-confidence will enable him to break into the social circles of Manhattan's elite, testing the boundaries of access and social mobility.

Devon Terrell takes on the lead role. Paul Dano, Helena Bonham Carter, and Rebecca Hall join the cast. Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons is among the producers along with McQueen and Carnahan.
