AceShowbiz - Ahead of her upcoming appearance on "Empire", Jennifer Hudson has premiered a song she recorded for the drama series. The track entitled "Remember the Music" was unveiled in full on Monday, March 9.

The slow-tempo ballad highlights the "American Idol" alum's powerful vocals as she belts out inspiring lyrics like, "You live and you learn/ Even when you think the times get hard/ It's temporary, oh/ All you gotta do is make that call/ I'll be there, don't be scared/ You don't gotta lose it, remember the music."

" 'Remember the Music' truly exemplifies the power that music can have in all of our lives," Hudson explained the song to PEOPLE. "In my own life and my own art, I have always aimed to move past barriers and step outside my comfort zone as much as possible, and music has always been a tool that has allowed me to do so. This song really showcases the ability that music has in helping people to find strength and clarity."

The track can be found on the soundtrack album from season 1 of "Empire". Also including contributions from Mary J. Blige and others, the set is hitting the shelves on March 10.
