Jeremy Renner has landed a role in "Story of Your Life". The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the actor is joining Amy Adams who has been previously enlisted as a female lead in the sci-fi flick directed by Denis Villeneuve.

Based on a short story by Nebula and Hugo Award-winning author Ted Chiang, the film follows Adam's linguist character who's hired by the U.S. government to communicate with aliens that have landed around the world, trying to find out if they come in peace or are a threat. Renner will play a physics professor who works together with her.

The script of "Story of Your Life" is written by Eric Heisserer. Glen Basner's FilmNation, David Linde's Lava Bear Films and 21 Laps' Shawn Levy and Dan Levine are producing. Paramount Pictures will distribute the project domestically.

Renner previously starred alongside Adams in "American Hustle". The 44-year-old hunk will next be seen in the highly-anticipated "Avengers: Age of Ultron" that hits U.S. theaters on May 1.

In other news, it's seems like Renner has been officially added to the cast of "Captain America: Civil War". In the same THR article, it's reported that the father of one would reprise his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel flick that's scheduled to start filming this spring before being released in May 2016.
