Director Joseph Kahn and Producer Adi Shankar ramp up the violence in the short film based on the children's favorite superheroes.

While waiting for the official remake of "Power Rangers", fans can watch a short film based on the Saban properties. Coming from director Joseph Kahn ("Torque", "Detention") and producer Adi Shankar ("Dredd"), the film stars James Van Der Beek and Katee Sackhoff as the color-coded superheroes.

The project is part of Shankar's Bootleg Universe which include "The Punisher: Dirty Laundry", "Venom: Truth in Journalism", and "Judge Dredd: Superfiend". The classic vibrant series which becomes children's favorite is turned into an R-rated story with crude language, violence, and head roll. Van Der Beek contributes to the script with Kahn.

"Deboot of the Power Rangers. My take on the FAN FILM," Kahn explained. "Not a pilot, not a series, not for profit, strictly for exhibition. This is a bootleg experiment not affiliated or endorsed by Saban Entertainment or Lionsgate nor is it selling any product. I claim no rights to any of the characters (don't send me any money, not kickstarted, this film is free). This is the NSFW version."
