The first trailer for "Alex of Venice" has landed online, showing Mary Elizabeth Winstead starting anew. Arriving on Monday, February 23, the trailer sees how Winstead copes with the fact that her on-screen husband, played by Chris Messina, tells her he is tired of being a stay-home dad and wants to have sometime alone. "I can't be your housewife anymore," he tells her out of the blue. "I need some time away."

Following the break, which turns out to be a long one, Winstead tries to juggle work, personal life and family. Glimpses at her playing with her son, enjoying the swings at the park, watching people showing off their impressive skateboard skills and meeting someone new are also seen in the trailer.

Messina makes his directing debut with the drama. Premiered at last year's Tribeca Film Festival, it features appearances from Don Johnson as Winstead's father and Katie Nehra as her sister. Derek Luke and Skylar Gaertner are also on board the film as supporting actors. The movie arrives on VOD and in select theaters in the U.S. on April 17.
