Charles Manson has reportedly called off his wedding to fiancee Afton Elaine Burton after learning that she wanted to wed him to gain possession of his corpse. Daniel Simone, an author of an upcoming book "The Retrial of Charles Manson", told New York Post that Afton wanted to put Charles' body on public display after his death.

According to Daniel, Afton and a friend named Craig Hammond planned to put Charles' corpse in a glass case. The duo thought Charles' corpse would be the California version of Lenin's Tomb which could make them rich. They had allegedly tried to get the rights of Charles' corpse without marrying him since two years ago but they were turned down.

Afton and Craig then switched to the marriage idea because if she became Charles' wife, California law would give her possession of his corpse after his death.

Daniel claimed Charles is now aware to the plot, "He's finally realized that he's been played for a fool." According to Daniel, Charles thought the plot was ridiculous because he believes he is immortal. "He feels he will never die. Therefore, he feels it's a stupid idea to begin with," he said.

Charles and Afton's marriage license expired on Thursday, February 5. According to a statement posted on her website MansonDirect.com, her wedding ceremony to Charles was postponed because of "an unexpected interruption in logistics... They plan on renewing the license, and things will move forward in the coming months."
