Video: Weird Al Yankovic Parodies 'Whiplash'
Movie

Weird Al inserts himself into scenes from the Best Picture contender as he promotes his 'Mandatory Fun' tour.

AceShowbiz - Weird Al Yankovic stars in a parody for Oscar-nominated "Whiplash". Arriving online on College Humor's YouTube on Monday, February 9, the parodist/singer can be seen inserting himself into practice scenes featured in the movie starring J.K. Simmons and Miles Teller while promoting his upcoming tour. The funnyman plays a good-natured musician who practices with Simmons' strict tutor character.

The video, titled "Weird Al Gets Whiplashed!", starts with Weird Al getting into the practice room and taking his place. "Someone's got a big tour coming up this year," he says. When the tutor doubts his statement, Weird Al insists, "Well, no actually it is me. It's the 'Mandatory World Tour'. We're doing like a hundred cities. It's gonna be huge."

Weird Al then starts playing his accordion before the musician gets upset due his mistakes which are spotted by his ruthless tutor. "Look. When I thought I wanted to be 'perfect,' I didn't mean perfect," Weird Al tells him. The 4-minute video ends with Weird Al being kicked out of the room.

"Whiplash" is currently up for Best Picture trophy at the 2015 Academy Awards alongside "American Sniper", "Birdman", "Boyhood", "The Grand Budapest Hotel", "The Imitation Game", "The Theory of Everything" and "Selma". Simmons, meanwhile, is among contenders in Best Supporting Actor category alongside Ethan Hawke ("Boyhood"), Robert Duvall ("The Judge"), Edward Norton ("Birdman") and Mark Ruffalo ("Foxcatcher").

Weird Al's tour, which was announced last month, will open with five shows at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood on May 12-16. The North American leg is concluded on September 18 before continuing in Europe on September 24.
