First images from "Poltergeist" reboot have been unveiled, giving glimpses at what fans can expect from the upcoming horror movie. Arriving online via USA Today on Wednesday, February 4, the photos feature some highlights from the Gil Kenan-directed movie which is a remake version of the 1982 popular flick.

Two of the photos see 8-year-old Kennedi Clements' character Madison Bowen who reaches out to apparitions on a screen. Another shot shows a creepy clown doll. A similar doll was also featured in the original movie.

"Poltergeist" tells the story of the Bowen family whose young daughter is abducted by supernatural forces. The parents are played by Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt.

"Unlike the traditional horror film, I wanted to put together a cast to give weight and reality to these characters. It's the way to anchor the family," Kenan told the news outlet. "It's such an emotional story at the core. Parents fighting to get their child back from the beyond."

"The thing that keeps them a family is what they have to draw on, to stay sane, and also to win Madison back," he added. "The film is super-scary. And it's scary on its own terms. I am excited to finally be able to share that with the world."

Also featuring Jared Harris as a supernatural researcher whom the parents turn to, the movie is based on a screenplay by David Lindsay-Abaire. The movie's first trailer will be released on Thursday, February 5 in anticipation of its July 24 release.
