Tom Hardy investigates into horrific cases in first "Child 44" trailer. Arriving online on Tuesday, January 27, the trailer sees Hardy's friend losing a son who was said to have been accidentally hit by a train. However, the boy was actually murdered. Later it is revealed that the killers have killed many more children. "Forty four. My friend's son was murdered too," Hardy says at the end of the video.

Based on a book by Tom Rob Smith, the movie centers on Hardy's character Leo Demidov, a secret police agent who loses status, power and home when he refuses to denounce his own wife, Raisa, as a traitor. The pair later join forces with General Mikhail Nesterov to catch the boys' murderer. They face a challenge from the state which refuses to acknowledge the incidents.

Noomi Rapace ("The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo") plays Hardy's wife, while Gary Oldman ("Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy") plays General Nesterov. Joel Kinnaman ("RoboCop") portrays Demidov's rival, Vasili. Directed by Daniel Espinosa ("Safe House"), it also features appearances from Jason Clarke ("Terminator Genisys") and Vincent Cassel ("Black Swan"). It is set to hit theaters in the U.S. on April 17.
