AceShowbiz - Peter Mayhew, who is best known for his role as Chewbacca in "Star Wars" films, is "recovering" after he was sent to hospital for pneumonia over the weekend. Peter's publicist Rick updated fans about the actor's condition on Monday evening, January 19.
Rick wrote via Peter's account, "Hey all, @Webmaster_Rick here. Peter is recovering well from his bout of pneumonia. He thanks you for the well wishes!!!" When a fan asked Rick to send Peter a photo of his dog "nursing" a Chewbacca doll, he replied, "Adorable! I'll make sure and show him tomorrow! -WMR"

Earlier on the day, TMZ reported that Peter was hospitalized and it caused him to cancel an appearance at a comic shop in Texas over the weekend. Peter's wife Angie Luker assured fans that his treatment was progressing well. "[Peter] will make a full recovery, and hope to be discharged within a few days," Angie wrote on Reddit, "Doctors are incredibly happy with his improvements."
Peter will reprise his role as Chewbacca in the seventh installment of "Star Wars" film series, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Other original cast members including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker will also be back in their respective roles. The action, sci-fi flick is set to hit U.S. theaters on December 18.
