It's revealed that the NFL first openly-gay player has just been engaged to marry his college sweetheart during a holiday in Europe.

Michael Sam is close to getting married. The American football player is reportedly engaged to longtime boyfriend Vito Cammisano during a trip to Europe. The couple traveled to Spain and Italy to ring in 2015 and celebrate Sam's 25th birthday.
"What a beautiful view from the top of St. Peter's Basilica!!! Happy 25th birthday to me," the birthday boy posted on Instagram a picture from Italy. He additionally tweeted, "Thank you to every single one of you for the birthday wishes, it truly means a lot."
Sam seemed to confirm the engagement by liking a congratulatory message from a friend on Twitter. "People, he is officially off the market!!!!!" the friend wrote. "My beautiful friend @vitcamm is getting married!!!!!!! (AHHHHHHHHH!) I love you so much Vit. So damn excited...so ready to celebrate! @mikeysam52 #vitoisengaged."
Sam and Cammisano studied together at the University of Missouri, where the former played football and the latter joined the swim team. They famously kissed after Sam was drafted by St. Louis Rams in May 2014 making him the first openly-gay NFL player.
Sam later joined the Dallas Cowboys practice squad after being dropped by the Rams during the preseason. He was, however, released as well by the Cowboys. "While this is disappointing, I will take the lessons I learned here in Dallas and continue to fight for an opportunity to prove that I can play every Sunday," he tweeted back then.
