The former Joey Potter depicter says she doesn't know if she has moved past the teen drama series, 'but I don't really care.'

AceShowbiz - It's been more than a decade since "Dawson's Creek" ended, but her role as Joey Potter still can't be separated from Katie Holmes. In an interview with Elle Canada, the mother to 8-year-old Suri Cruise admits, "I don't know if I have moved past it, but I don't really care."

"I had a ball doing it, and it's really nice to be a part of something that did affect people," she says, adding that the popular teen drama series had a big role in her life. "And it created a lot of opportunities for all of us. You can't really ask for much more than that."

Though so, the 36-year-old actress says that she doesn't sit around thinking about past successes, claiming, "I just keep going. That's what I do: I don't really think about it; I kind of just keep going."

Holmes, who will soon make her directorial debut in a film adaptation of Annie Weatherwax's book "All We Had", additionally reveals that maintaining a career in the entertainment industry is not easy. "It's a very hard business," she shares. "You have to work hard every day and hope for the best. Sometimes offers are flying in, and sometimes they're not."

"There aren't as many movies being made, period, so the challenge is to create projects for yourself," she says of trying her hand at directing a movie. "But that's fun too. You have to make your own opportunities."
