A new video was released by "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". It features cast and crew including director J.J. Abrams expressing their gratitude to fans for supporting the Force for Change campaign. R2-D2 and Chewbacca also make cameos in the video message.
$4.26 million was raised for the good cause. It "means thousands of children all across the globe will benefit from UNICEF's pioneering efforts to increase access to education, health resources and improved communication during emergencies for those who need it most," Abrams says.
In related news, a live reading of "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" was held in Los Angeles by Jason Reitman. A number of actors including the original star Mark Hamill were on hand to play roles at the event.
Hamill played The Emperor and also read the lines for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Boba Fett, while his original character Luke Skywalker was played by Aaron Paul. The villainous Darth Vader was played by J.K. Simmons, and the lovable Chewbacca was played by Rainn Wilson.
