Channing Tatum is one of the judges on Team Oscar which will give a chance to young filmmakers to appear onstage at the upcoming ceremony. On Wednesday, December 17, it was announced that the "Foxcatcher" star, producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron as well as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences would select lucky winners who will help deliver the trophies to celebrity presenters.
"I'm honored to be returning to launch the Team Oscar competition and encourage the next generation of filmmakers to join me onstage at this year's Oscars," Tatum said in a statement. "It's inspiring to see how these young filmmakers rise to the challenge, and I can't wait to see the talent we uncover." The producers additionally said that they were "thrilled" to bring the competition for the third year.
People who are interested in joining the competition can submit their 60-second videos with the subject "the best piece of advice I've ever received" to the Academy's Facebook. American citizens between the age of 18 to 30 are eligible to make submissions until January 12, 2015 at 9:00 P.M. PT.
Six winners will be announced next year. Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, the upcoming Oscars ceremony takes place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 22 at 7 P.M. ET.
