New detail from "The Walking Dead" spin-off has emerged. It had been said that the potential new series would see what happens "in other parts of the world" during the zombie apocalypse, and now TVLine reports that the show will be set in Los Angeles, California.

It's unclear, though, if the show will be filmed in L.A. or another city that could double as L.A. Sources tell E! News that the pilot will feature scenes set in a school and a hospital. AMC has not confirmed nor denied the story as other details of the show have been kept under tight wraps.

However, several principal characters on the show had been revealed. They include a Latino man in his 40s and his son, a single mom in her 30s and her teenage son and daughter, as well as a character named Andrea Chapman who "has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage."

The cast includes Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey, who all land series regular roles.

The pilot, penned by Dave Erickson and the "Walking Dead" comic book author Robert Kirkman, will be shot in early 2015.
