Tim Burton has given an update on the long-gestating project "Beetlejuice 2", saying that he still works on the follow-up to the horror-comedy movie starring Michael Keaton. Burton revealed the info when he was doing a press junket for his new movie "Big Eyes" which stars Amy Adams.

"It's a character that I love and I miss and I miss actually working with Michael. There's only one Betelgeuse. We're working on a script and I think it's probably closer than ever and I'd love to work with him again," he told Coming Soon.

"Beetlejuice" was released 27 years ago. Keaton, who is praised by critics following his performance in "Birdman", played a devious ghost. Other stars in the movie included Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Winona Ryder.

Earlier this month, Keaton also mentioned "Beetlejuice 2" when promoting "Birdman", saying that he talked about the movie with Burton. "Tim Burton and I have emailed about it. We're both in the same situation (of always being busy on other projects). Neither one of us gets tired of the conversation... Tim says he's working on something, then goes away for a while. At some point, someone is going to say we really want to do it. You don't want to f**k it up, so it has to be perfect," he told Deadline.
