ABC Family has ordered a documentary from Ryan Seacrest straight to series. "My Transparent Life" will follow a teenage boy named Ben who just learns that his parents are divorcing and that his father is going through a gender transition from Charlie to Carly.

The series will see the impact on the family patriarch's decision to come out as a transgender woman. It also takes a look at both generations of this family and how they learn to support each other during a period of intense change in their lives.

"ABC Family is best known for its complex, loving and relatable family programming, and we are so proud to partner with Ryan Seacrest Productions to share Ben’s incredible real-life story," said ABC Family prexy Tom Ascheim. "While Ben's family situation is unusual, the themes and coming-of-age issues are universal, and we think our viewers will find a real connection to them."

Seacrest is exec producing through his Ryan Seacrest Prods. with Eugene Young, Rabih Gholam, George Moll. Paul Barosse is also exec producer. No premiere date is announced yet.
