Tony-winning actress Victoria Clark lands a key role on the Showtime thriller, while Allison Mack will play a naive, small-town police officer on the FOX drama.

AceShowbiz - "Homeland" has tapped an actress to join its cast midway through season 4. Broadway veteran Victoria Clark is cast in a big, surprise role as Carrie Mathison's (Claire Danes) mom in an upcoming episode of the Showtime series.

Filming for the fourth season of the Emmy-winning series has just wrapped, but EW which first reported the news can't reveal when Carrie's mom appears on the show. The show, which airs Sundays at 9 P.M., previously featured James Rebhorn as Carrie's father but the actor passed away earlier this year.

In other casting news, "The Following" has added Allison Mack to its cast for season 3. The actress known for her portrayal of Chloe Sullivan on "Smallville" will portray Hillary, a naive, small-town police officer caught up in Ryan Hardy's (Kevin Bacon) hunt for a serial killer.

Mack tweeted her excitement about her new project on Friday, November 21. "Heading to LA in the morning to lend my voice to a brand new Cartoon for Amazon!" she wrote. "Then headed to NYC to film an episode of @TheFollowingFOX."

She will appear in at least one episode of the upcoming third season of the FOX drama. She will reunite with "Following" series regular Shawn Ashmore, who guest-starred on two episodes of "Smallville" as Eric Summers.

"The Following" season 3 debuts Monday, March 2 with a two-hour premiere starting at 8 P.M. ET on FOX. The show recently tapped "Almost Human" alum Michael Ealy as a top villain in season 3. He will play a brilliant, chameleon-like killer who will push Ryan Hardy to the brink.
