The 2014 BAFTA Scotland Awards took place on Sunday, November 16 at Glasgow's Radisson Blu Hotel. James McAvoy was one of the notable winners that night along with David Tennant and a slew of other big and small-screen actors.

McAvoy took home the Best Film Actor award for his portrayal of a corrupt police officer in director Jon S Baird's dark comedy "Filth". He won over Peter Mullan ("Sunshine on Leith") and Jack O'Connell ("Starred Up").

McAvoy playfully took a dig at O'Connell. "It's a proper relief because it would be well embarrassing to lose it to an English guy that made a film in Belfast," he joked. "He's brilliant, by the way, but it would have been proper rubbish to fly all the way back to Glasgow to lose it to an English guy who made a film in Belfast about English people in prison. So I was well relieved."

Meanwhile, Tennant won the Actor Television category for his role in "The Escape Artist". Fighting back tears, he dedicated his award to wife Georgia, daughter Olivia and son Tyler. "Watching online is my lovely daughter and Ty. I'm sorry you can't be here. I love you both very much," he said in his acceptance speech.

Other major winners of the night included "Philomena" star Sophie Kennedy Clark for Best Film Actress and "Southcliffe" star Shirley Henderson for Best Television Actress. "Starred Up" took the Best Feature Film award.
