"Doctor Who" already wrapped up its eighth season on Saturday, November 9, but will return for a Christmas special in December. A sneak peek at the Christmas episode was revealed after the season 8 finale, giving a glimpse at Peter Capaldi's title character and his companion Clara (Jenna Coleman) in North Pole.

"It's Christmas, the North Pole. Who you gonna call?" the Doctor says. The teaser also offers a glimpse at slimy monsters who are seemingly just awakened from their sleep, and a first look at Nick Frost as a not-so-happy Santa Claus, who will help the Doctor fight off against the creepy creatures.

"I'm so thrilled to have been asked to guest in the 'Doctor Who' Christmas special, I'm such a fan of the show," Frost, who starred in and wrote "Shaun of the Dead", says of his guest-starring stint. "The read-through was very difficult for me; I wanted to keep stuffing my fingers into my ears and scream 'No spoilers!' Every day on set I've had to silence my internal fan boy squeals!"

"Doctor Who" executive producer Steven Moffat adds, "Frost at Christmas-it just makes sense! I worked with Nick on the Tintin movie many years ago, and it's a real pleasure to lure him back to television for a ride on the TARDIS."

The Christmas special is written by Moffat and directed by Paul Wilmshurst. The episode also stars Natalie Gumede, Faye Marsay, Nathan McMullen and Michael Troughton.
