A video of actress Lea DeLaria, who is popular for playing Carrie "Big Boo" Black on "Orange Is the New Black", taking on a subway preacher in New York has made its way out online. In a clip surfacing on Tuesday, October 4, the actress can be seen being unhappy after a man loudly preaches lines from the Bible and makes references to homosexuality.
"You have no right! You have no right!" she told the man. "Get off this train! Other people believe other things, and have every right to believe other things on this planet and in this world. We do not have to be force-fed this man's religious beliefs. Jesus never said for you to do this! Not anywhere in the Bible!"
"Don't come at me, because I went to f**king Catholic school for 12 years, and I know every line," she later said. The man refused to back down and DeLaria was not going to stop either. "This is mass transportation... and as long as you keep talking, I'll keep talking!" she added.
A person who was in the train with DeLaria and the man talked to Gothamist about the incident which took place on Tuesday at about 9 A.M. "I walked onto the F train at W4 station and they were already yelling. And when I got off two stops later at 23rd street, they were still going," the person said.
"A lot of people were standing around taking videos and photos and watching. I think people weren't sure whether it was real or staged. But a friend later confirmed that she has seen this same man preaching similar things on the subway before, so I'm pretty sure it was real," the person added.
