Chris Rock was not afraid of stirring controversies during his return as the host of "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend. The comedian took on Boston marathon bombing and 9/11 terrorist attack among other delicate topics during his monologue.

Calling the Boston bombing "the most frightening, sadistic terrorist attack ever," he joked about the runners who ran 26 miles at the marathon, "Their knees are hurting, their feet are killing them. ... You've been training for a year, you finally get to the finish line, and somebody screams: 'Run!' " He ended the bit by praising the survivors as saying, "Good people of Boston bounced back."

Chris then talked about New York City. He especially mocked the "arrogance" of Freedom Tower which was built in the same spot as the World Trade Center towers after the 9/11 attacks. "Does this building duck?" he joked. "Who's the corporate sponsor [of the building] … Target?"

"There is no circumstance that will ever get me in that building…," he also said. "I don't care if Scarlett Johansson is on the 28th floor in a plate of ribs."

The host also discussed internet trolls and cracked a joke about gun control in the process. While the regulation said that people shouldn't "have a machine gun in [your] house across the street form a school," the death threats he found online suggested otherwise.

Another topic he covered on the show was the irony of Christmas. While Jesus "was the least materialistic guy to ever walk the planet. No bling on Jesus," people "turned his birthday into the most materialistic day," he took a dig at the commercialization of the holy day.
