Sony Plans All-Female Spider-Man Spin-Off 'Glass Ceiling'
Movie

Several tough female characters from Spiderverse are expected to band together in a big assemble movie to accompany another spin-off 'The Sinister Six'.

There is already rumor that Sony is working to give depth to a female superhero from Spider-Man universe. Now a new report from Badass Digest suggests that instead of adapting one heroine for a solo movie, the studio is planning to bring together a whole group of female Spidey characters in one big assemble film.

The spin-off tentatively titled "Glass Ceiling" is reportedly based on an original concept, not adapted from any of the web-slinger comic books. The lineup is still unclear, but Black Cat the burglar, Silver Sable the mercenary, Spider-Girl and the newly-introduced heroine Silk are among the heroines in the comic series.

Other details are not yet available, but Lisa Joy was previously rumored being hired to pen the screenplay for a possible female Spidey spin-off.

Sony originally plotted to expand Spidey cinematic universe by developing two more "The Amazing Spider-Man" sequels, a "Venom Carnage" spin-off and "The Sinister Six" movie. However, the lukewarm performance of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has left the planned movie slate in disarray.

"Venom" is rumored to be canceled and the studio is mulling over three scenarios for Spider-Man. They reportedly plan to either bench the character for several years or replace Andrew Garfield with a fresh face or have the web-slinger join Marvel Cinematic Universe. As for "Sinister Six", it still goes as planned for November 11, 2016 release. "The Cabin in the Woods" helmer Drew Goddard will helm and write the script.
