"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" is looking forward to opening at the first place on domestic box office. The movie's ticket pre-sales set a record on Wednesday, October 29, selling more than any other movies in 2014 so far.

According to online brokers Fandango, MovieTickets.com and AMC Theaters, the third "Hunger Games" movie exceeded first-day presales. Over at MovieTickets.com, the advance sale doubled those for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire". The site also reported that it exceeded the first-day advance sales of "Guardians of the Galaxy", which currently holds the title of highest-grossing film of 2014.

AMC said audience preferred to purchase for a "Hunger Games" marathon in which the first two films will be screened at 250 of the chain's locations, starting at 2 P.M. on Thursday, November 20. Over at Fandango, the "Mockingjay" pre-sale accounted for almost 70 percent of the ticket service's daily ticket sales on Wednesday but it tied the percentage they reported for "Catching Fire" pre-sales.

"Mockingjay" is expected to match the $158.2 million North American debut of "Catching Fire" a year ago. The biggest opening for 2014 is temporarily held by "Transformers: Age of Extinction" at $100 million.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" opens in U.S. theaters November 21.
