AceShowbiz - "American Gigolo" is also getting a small-screen treatment. The 1980 crime drama film starring Richard Gere and Lauren Hutton is being adapted into a TV series with Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the movie, serving as executive producer.
"With its signature noir aesthetic, 'American Gigolo' has remained a deeply entertaining, psychological thriller and I'm thrilled to partner with [Paramount CEO] Brad [Grey] and [Paramount TV president] Amy [Powell] on remaking it into a television series," Bruckheimer said.
Paul Schrader, who directed and wrote the original work, will serve as an executive consultant. Jonathan Littman of Jerry Bruckheimer Television will also executive produce the project, with the company's KristieAnne Reed as co-executive producer and Michael Azzolino as producer.
There's no word on where the "American Gigolo" TV remake will land. Other movies being turned into TV shows include "Big" and "Monster-in-Law" on FOX, "Rush Hour" and "In Good Company" on CBS, and "Marley & Me" on NBC.
