Netflix has released the first promo for its new original series "Marco Polo". The streaming giant, which has enjoyed success with "House of Cards" and "Orange Is the New Black", is clearly aiming high with the latest show, teasing viewers with an epic trailer.
At the center of the story is the title character, the famed 13th century explorer. The show, however, will go beyond the traditional "biographic" type story by positioning it as a fantasy action movie.
The series focuses on Marco Polo's adventures in Kublai Kahn's court in 13th century China. "Marco, the blood of an adventurer courses through your veins," a man tells him. Based on the video, there will be some nudity, sex and drug scenes, and blood spilled in battles as "worlds will collide."
Starring Lorenzo Richelmy as Marco Polo, it's supported by Benedict Wong, Joan Chen and Chin Han in the cast. All 10 episodes of the series will be available December 12 on Netflix.
