Christina Ricci will pick up the axe again for "Lizzie Borden: The Fall River Chronicles". The actress is going to reprise her role as the notorious murderer on the Lifetime miniseries, which serves as a follow-up to TV movie "Lizzie Borden Took an Ax".

The Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated star will be joined by Clea DuVall, who will also reprise her role as Lizzie Borden's sister, Emma. The six-episode limited series will feature a fictionalized account of Lizzie's life after she was acquitted of the axe murders of her father and stepmother in 1892.

When numerous people around Lizzie start to die mysteriously under brutal and strange circumstances, legendary Pinkerton detective Charlie Siringo becomes determined to prove her involvement in their demise.

"For more than a century, the world has been captivated by the legend of Lizzie Borden, but no one has captured her enigmatic menace as well as Christina Ricci," says Rob Sharenow, executive vice president and general manager of Lifetime. "This series will take viewers further down Lizzie Borden's dark path, revealing what many people suspected about her mysterious life."

Cole Hauser will play Siringo, John Heard is cast as William Almy, the business partner of Lizzie's murdered father, and Andrew Howard will portray Lizzie's half-brother William.

Greg Small, Rich Blaney, Barbara Nance, Jason Grote and David Simkins are writing the miniseries, while Stephen Kay is set to direct the first two episodes. The limited series is expected to air in 2015, but no exact date is announced yet.
