Another movie is getting a TV remake. "Hitch", a 2005 romcom starring Will Smith and Eva Mendes, is being turned into a half-hour single-camera comedy for FOX with Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont writing it.
The TV adaptation is described as a workplace comedy that explores dating and sexual politics. Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith as well as James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett will exec produce the new project.
The "Hitch" movie grossed nearly $370 million against $70 million budget. There were attempts to make the TV reboot in 2007 and 2010 with different writers at CBS and FOX, but both failed.
In other news about remake project, a new take on "Bewitched" has landed on NBC with a pilot production commitment. Sony Pictures TV and Lucy Fisher and Douglas Wick's Red Wagon Entertainment produce the follow-up to the classic sitcom that aired from 1964 to 1972.
Penned by "The Vow" scribes Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, it follows Daphne, Samantha's granddaughter and Tabitha's daughter, described as a single twentsomething witch who has always used her magical powers to conjure herself the perfect life. According to Deadline, she soon realizes that the one thing she cannot conjure and control is the one thing she wants most, real love.
