Gere and the 'Top Chef' host reportedly decide to call it quits after six months of dating, while Lakshmi says in a new TV interview that she is single.

Richard Gere and Padma Lakshmi have decided to call it quits, Page Six reports. When asked about her love life, the "Top Chef" host recently said in a TV interview that she was single. A source additionally claimed that the pair had been busy with work and that they "decided they would be better as friends."
Gere and Lakshmi were first romantically linked in April. "They have been quietly spending some time together. It is all very new and recent, and happened while he has been filming in New York," a source said back then.
The actor was busy filming "Time Out of Mind" in Summer, while Lakshmi filmed her show in Boston. He plays a homeless man in the Oren Moverman-directed movie and stars alongside Jena Malone, Jeremy Strong and Danielle Brooks among others.
Speaking at Film Society of Lincoln Center a few days ago, Gere said his separation from his wife of 11 years Carey Lowell contributed to his performance in the movie. "What probably really helped was that I was right in the middle of a divorce... The emotions were right on the surface," he said.
