'Homeland' 4.03 Clips: Carrie Surprised by Saul's Arrival

Carrie refuses to admit that she needs Saul's help, while Quinn loses control as he's confronted about his feelings for Carrie.

"Homeland" has just kicked off its fourth season with a two-hour premiere. Next week, Carrie will reunite with her former mentor Saul as she needs a helping hand while handling the case in Kabul, Afghanistan. Initially refusing to admit that she needs Saul's help, Carrie is surprised by his arrival as she's worried about what people will think of her.

In another clip for the third episode, Dar Adal pays Quinn a visit and accuses him of letting his feelings for Carrie interfere with his job. Pressed further about the incident [SPOILER ALERT!] that cost Sandy's life, Quinn loses control and chokes Dar but lets Dar go before it becomes fatal.

"Homeland" returns with the new episode titled "Shalwar Kameez" on Sunday, October 12 at 9 P.M. ET/PT on Showtime. Following the season 4 premiere, the first two episodes have been made available online.

The season opener featured a troubling scene in which [SPOILER ALERT!] Carrie considered drowning her baby in the bathtub. Showrunner Alex Gansa explained to THR, "The hanging of Brody is something she hasn't squarely faced, and that child is a physical representation of that tragedy. As a result, that kid is something Carrie doesn't want to deal with. It all came down to that scene in the bathtub, where, for a moment, she considered that her life would be easier if this little creature didn't exist anymore."

"This is not an exaggeration, we spent a full five days editing that little piece of film," he continued, "We wanted to leave it open. Did she put the baby under water or did she not? It's left in the mind of the audience to determine what exactly happened."

To TV Guide, he added that "the memory of what she did [in that bathtub] is going to haunt" Carrie. Gansa went on sharing, "As is the memory of what to happened Brody the season before, as is the memory of things that happen in this season that you don't know about yet. It's a dangerous world that she lives in and she's a troubled character."
