Chris Hemsworth is tangled in a world of cyber threats and attacks. The first trailer of Michael Mann's "Blackhat" brings the "Thor" star from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta in attempt to hunt a high-level cybercrime network.

"Blackhat" was presented at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year. Previously known as "Untitled Michael Mann Cyber Thriller", the project released its first footage and revealed its title. Hemsworth, who was present at the panel, was introduced as a convicted MIT-trained hacker/genius coder who apparently would save the world.

"They don't know who [the terrorist] is, where he is, and they don't know why he's doing what he's doing," Mann said. "There's no apparent motive. The people they're working against are high-speed, world-class. They're dangerous, violent, and that launches our story."

"Blackhat" arrives in theaters nationwide January 16, 2015. It also stars Viola Davis, Holt McCallany, Tang Wei and Wang Lee Hom.
