After a few weeks of uncertainty following Joan Rivers' passing on September 4, E! officially announces that "Fashion Police" will continue without the leader. The network notes that it's "what she would have wanted."
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Joan Rivers and, for the last two weeks, have turned our attention to honoring her memory on all of our platforms," E! says. "We have also thought long and hard about what Joan would have wanted as it pertains to the future of Fashion Police."
"We decided, with Melissa Rivers' blessing, that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue. Fashion Police will return in 2015 commencing with Golden Globes coverage on Monday, January 12. No further details will be announced at this time."
Joan's daughter Melissa serves as the executive director on the show. She made her first appearance on television since her mother's death, joining Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, and George Kotsiopoulos to pay tribute to the late comedienne in a 90-minute special titled "Fashion Police: Celebrating Joan" on September 19.
