AceShowbiz - "Falling Skies" shut down production on Tuesday, September 16 after a security guard was killed on the set. The worker, whose name has not been released, was struck by an unattended truck that rolled down a slope.

The accident took place at around 8:30 P.M. Monday in Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver, where the sci-fi series is filmed. Scott McCloy, a spokesman for WorkSafeBC which is British Columbia's Workers' Compensation Board, says that the worker was hired to conduct security and was standing near a 5-ton truck parked on a slope.

"A five-ton truck parked on a 6|percent| slope had been left unattended," McCloy details. "The vehicle tailgate was lowered for off-loading of equipment. The truck rolled backwards down the slope and the deceased worker was caught between the tailgate and the tree." The local police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are investigating the fatal incident.

TNT also releases a statement to send condolences. "We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and on behalf of the producers and TNT, we wish to express our heartfelt condolences to the family of the security guard," a spokeswoman for the network says.

"Falling Skies" is shooting its fifth and final season which is slated to air next summer.
