Steven Spielberg's TV adaptation of Tom Cruise's 2002 actioner "Minority Report" is officially in order at FOX. The series is given a put-pilot commitment which means FOX has to pay a hefty amount of penalty if it doesn't go to pilot.

The series picks up 10 years after the events in the film. The Precrime division which was headed by Cruise's Chief John Anderton was shut down. One of the former three Precogs struggles to lead a "normal" human life, but remains haunted by visions of the future. He meets a detective haunted by her past who just may help him find a purpose to his gift.

"Godzilla" scribe Max Borenstein pens the script. He also executive produce the project with Amblin Television's Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank. Spielberg, who directed the original movie, is expected to put a renown actor in the role of the unit's leader, very much like hiring Halle Berry to star in CBS' "Extant".

20th Century Fox TV and Paramount TV are also producing the series.
