"The Wire" is going to get a retouch before it's rebroadcast. HBO has confirmed that it's remastering David Simon's critically acclaimed drama in high definition after a promo for the upcoming marathon let the cat out of the bag.

The ad which debuted in August, however, wrongly mentioned September 4 as the start date of the "replay marathon." The premium cable channel says the episodes are still in review and the marathon won't launch this month.

"The Wire" ran for five seasons from 2002 to 2008 on HBO. The crime drama about gangs, police and other factions in Baltimore and how they live together starred Dominic West, Wendell Pierce, Idris Elba and Michael K. Williams among others. Despite poor ratings, the show has been deemed one of the greatest TV dramas of all time.
