Pedro Pascal Joins Netflix's New Drama Series 'Narcos'

The Prince Oberyn Martell of 'Game of Thrones' will star as a Mexican DEA agent opposite Wagner Moura on the upcoming show.

AceShowbiz - From fantasy land Westeros, Pedro Pascal is now heading to Colombia. The actor, known for his role as Prince Oberyn Martell on "Game of Thrones", has been tapped to star on Netflix's new drama "Narcos".

The 39-year-old Chile-born actor will star opposite Wagner Moura on the upcoming series. Moura takes on the role of Pablo Escobar, a notorious Colombian cocaine kingpin, while Pascal will play Javier Pena, a Mexican DEA agent who is sent to Colombia in an attempt to take down Escobar.

According to Deadline which first reported the news, the drama is based on the true-life story of the growth and spread of cocaine drug cartels across the globe and attendant efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict.

Chris Brancato ("Law & Order: Criminal Intent") writes the script and Jose Padilha (2014's "RoboCop") is set to direct. Padilha will also serve as executive producer along with Eric Newman. The show will be shot in location in Colombia and is slated for a 2015 premiere.

Pascal, who has been seen attending numerous events with actress Sarah Paulson lately, had a recurring role on USA's "Graceland" and CBS' "The Mentalist" before starring on HBO's "Game of Thrones".
