Disney continues to turn its classic animations into live-action feature films. Following the success of Robert Stromberg's "Maleficent" starring Angelina Jolie, it's revealed by Variety that the Mouse House has tapped Bill Condon to direct a live-action reimagining of "Beauty and the Beast (2017)" tale.

The love story of a beautiful woman and her hideous suitor has been adapted into TV shows, plays, and movies multiple times. The most recent Hollywood translation is a 2011 romantic drama "Beastly" starring Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens. For the upcoming flick, Evan Spiliotopoulos is hired to write the script.

Condon is known for his brilliant work as a director and writer of 2006's musical drama "Dreamgirls". He also penned a big-screen version of popular play "Chicago" in 2002. In the recent years, he directed the last two "Twilight Saga" installments and WikiLeaks story "The Fifth Estate".
